While her husband is in Sweden, a barrister’s wife is found murdered in the marital home at Notting Hill, along with the dead body of an unknown man.

But the wife is a former nude dancer and the man a homosexual actor.  Lurking in the background, however, is the owner of a sleazy lap-dancing club, and a tobacco bootlegger. All of which forces DCI Brock and his assistant DS Poole to make enquiries in the murkier parts of London low life before the killings are resolved.
